  Elderly man and woman Welcome!

This is the site for you if you are starting, or are already involved with, oral history in the North East of England.

The North East Oral History Network was
set up in 2003 to provide support for individuals and organisations undertaking
oral history projects. Its purpose is to
provide focus and support to those undertaking oral history and create a
forum for the sharing of ideas and
experience within the region.

Current activities include:

"If they're worth recording - they're worth recording well..."

It is hoped that by continually seeking to improve practice through skills sharing, training and networking we can help to ensure that the people’s voices throughout the region can be listened to, and their unique stories heard, long into the future.

'At its best oral history is subversive, challenging and moving. At its worst it can be unsurprising nostalgia'.
